Managing these hot, humid days
While we are loving the hot weather, it’s important to ensure we are providing a comfortable working environment for your team, including yourself - to prevent heat-related fatigue.
To safeguard you and your team, make sure you:
Have plenty of cold water available to keep the team hydrated throughout the day. Aim for 1.5-2L a day!
Set a comfortable, cool office temperature (19ºC-24ºC for sedentary work and 16ºC-21ºC for physical work) and adjust it as needed throughout the day. Double-check that your air conditioning has been serviced! Provide fans to team members who are out of reach of air conditioning or fresh air.
Ensure outdoor workers have access to shade and are provided with appropriate PPE.
Encourage team members to take breaks, moving away from their desks to enjoy fresh air and a nourishing lunch.
Consider implementing a relaxed dress code for the warmer months.
To boost morale on these hot summer days, you may also like to offer small gestures to your team such as having ice blocks in the freezer, providing cold drinks, keeping a bowl of fresh summer fruit on offer and allowing flexibility around start and finish times.
