HR 2024 Wrapped
What a year – can you believe we’re already talking about 2025! For some, this year has brought hardships and challenges, while for others, it’s been a time of huge successes and wins.
Let’s dive into the top trends we saw in 2024 and our predictions for 2025 in the HR space.
2024 Key Themes
Change Processes – In the electrical industry, there was a saying I heard many times: “Survive until 2025.” It’s been tough seeing so many clients struggle this year, which has led to numerous restructures and change processes. Restructures were a major theme in 2024, and while that’s never easy, it’s been a year of making tough calls and preparing for the future.
Employee Wellness Takes Centre Stage – Employee wellness is no longer just a buzzword – it’s front and centre in the workplace. Employers are embracing a holistic approach, with mental health, flexible schedules, and wellness perks all part of the package. Employees are seeking balance this year, and employers are responding with initiatives that promote physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
Proactive Work – Although many of our clients faced difficulties, a lucky few thrived this year. We’ve seen a rise in businesses investing in proactive work. From values workshops and team building to leadership coaching, this is where the magic happens. This kind of forward thinking approach has delivered awesome benefits, and we’ve seen the positive impact firsthand.
Tidying Up Employment Agreements, Policies, and Procedures – There’s been a major focus on getting everything in order this year, from creating funky policy handbooks to refreshing procedures and reviewing Employment Agreements (By the way, we offer complimentary Employment Agreement reviews!). Everyone seems to be giving those dusty policies on the shelf some love, ensuring they’re up to date with new legislation and truly fit for purpose.
2025 Predictions
Change Processes – With economic uncertainty lingering in some sectors, we anticipate continuing to assist clients with restructures and change processes. However, as we near the end of 2024, we’ve seen some improvement for many clients, with more work in the pipeline. It’s tough out there, so know that if you are still struggling, you are not alone, and we are here to help.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) – AI remains hugely underutilised by many of our clients. This year, we’ve often introduced them to tools like ChatGPT (yes, it’s legit!) and have been using it to our benefit as well. We’re not suggesting you let ChatGPT write all your emails, but we’re all for using it as a starting point to spark creativity and get the ball rolling.
Leadership Development and Coaching – We have some fantastic workshops and coaching sessions already locked in for 2025, and we expect leadership development to be a key focus. Building strong leaders will remain a priority for many!
Immigration: Greater Focus on Compliance and Infringement Notices – In 2025, there will be more focus on immigration compliance, with stricter rules and checks. Employers will need to pay closer attention to workers' immigration status and make sure all documentation is correct. Infringement notices are expected to increase as authorities take stronger action against non-compliance.
As we look ahead to 2025, it’s clear that the HR landscape will continue to evolve with new challenges and opportunities, there’s plenty to keep us on our toes! We’re always here to help you navigate these changes and support your team every step of the way. Bring it on 2025!
