September Wellness Challenge – Blog
Week Two and Three
Spirits are running high across the People Passion team as we move into Alert Level 3 and complete week 3 of our Wellness Challenge!
Wellness can mean something different for each and every one of us and fortunately, the People Passion team share a great love for many of the same things such as cooking, baking, exercise, yoga, the outdoors – the list could go on!
To kick start our week (and also earn us a whopping 5 points each), we decided to shake up our daily meeting routine and do a walking teams meeting instead. So at 8:30am, we connected via Team’s on our phones, plugged our head phones in and then we were up and away. This definitely was a refreshing start to our day and if you and your team are still working from home, we highly recommend giving this a go!
Although it is a ‘challenge’, our focus is on bettering our own mental wellness and doing things that are good for the mind, body and soul – not who has the highest points! Each team member can confirm that implementing the wellness challenge into their daily routine has had a positive impact during lockdown and that’s what matters most!
Check out our photos & reels below for a little insight in to what we have been up to this week…….

Set Up
Despite being in lockdown our Wellness Challenge started strong this week! Our Culture team put together a Google document with a range of activities, along with a points scheme, for the team to keep track of and add to every time they completed an activity. The activities vary between physical and mental wellbeing, we found having the Google doc a great way for the challenge to stay interactive while safely being in our bubbles.
Reflection
Our Auckland team’s wellness looked different for each person. Krista was committed to starting her days with a walk or virtual eightlimb yoga and loved seeing the way studios are adapting and changing it up to encourage people to still do their classes from home.
Lara’s favourite part was making time for herself whether that was in the morning, similar to Krista, with a walk or yoga or just sitting in the sun with a cuppa (got to make the most of the weather when it provides, as I’m sure all Aucklander’s will agree due to it being so changeable).
Sarah made it a focus to enjoy her own company and take the time out to be present and do things that were good for the soul. Some things that contributed to her feeling good last week were the sunshine, cooking something new and fuelling her body.
Katie, Kelli and Kat really appreciated the quality time they got to spend with their families and young children, even getting them involved in some of the activities! Kelli went on family bike rides most days, enjoying that her husband could join in whilst not being at work, due to level 4. Katie started the challenge by changing up her morning routine and writing lists of what her and her family would attempt to achieve that day! Kat has found this time an opportunity to reset, and has enjoyed playing family games such as backyard cricket in the sunshine with her little bubble.
Being the competitive person that I am, I found the wellness challenge a great incentive to get amongst it and make a conscious effort around my wellbeing. I loved my evening walks and doing some of the mental wellness activities such as writing down 3 things that I’m grateful for. It can be easy to get in a rut in situations like lockdown for many including myself, so practicing gratitude helped me put things in perspective and appreciate how much I still have to be grateful for.
Our New Plymouth gals got to experience a slightly more normal wellness challenge, as they went back into level 2 on the Wednesday. Paige loved getting back into reformer Pilates - although definitely felt it after the first day back. Julia (our wellness guru) was stoked to be back in the office and carrying on with her daily routine which involves a lot of yoga, runs and cold dipping in the crisp New Plymouth sea - not sure how she manages that one.
Leader board
Some of the points for the challenge are to take a photo or video of you doing any activity and share them with the rest of the team, it was awesome to see what everyone was getting up to and really helped keep the team motivated to participate and get involved. A bit of healthy competition for a positive outcome, to encourage the team to make their wellness a priority. The leader board after week one sits at:
Kelli - 356 points
Daisy - 237 points
Krista - 217 points
