What does recruitment look like for you and your business?

Covid-19 is affecting the entire country and most, if not all industries in one way or another. We encourage you to look at your business as part of your contingency planning. Think about what your immediate staffing requirements are, while also projecting what your business may look like in the next few months. One positive is that we are getting great candidates applying for roles that are out of work due to Covid-19, so if you are unsure about what to do in terms of filling a vacancy within your business, please think about the below:

  • Use common sense and avoid face to face meetings wherever possible

  • What roles are you currently recruiting for – are they essential to your business? If they are - do you have the resources to interview and induct staff remotely? Do you have training resources that you can get your new or existing staff members to complete online? Look at skype and zoom for interviews and meetings. Think about offering online training where you can

  • Although we don’t know when, things will pick up again, so think about what kind of unique skills and experience you want to have/retain in your business as there will be a lot of competition when the job market picks up again

  • Remember many applicants have to give 4 weeks’ notice – we don’t know what’s going to happen, if you continue with your recruitment process, you may not have someone in the role for at least 1 -2 months so think ahead

  • This is a great time to think about the procedures and processes you have in place around on-boarding, inductions, and online training resources within your business
