Assistant Farm Manager - North Canterbury

About the role

As an Assistant Farm Manager, you will be working closely with the Farm Manager to provide guidance and support in the day-to-day operation of our Swannanoa, North Canterbury operation. This will include:

  • The day-to-day management of the farm(s), including animal welfare/husbandry and staff management

  • Monitoring and management of flock health and egg production performance

  • Maintain a safe working environment

  • Administration and reporting on farm operation and flock performance

  • Planning a prioritising work to ensure performance, quality, animal welfare, and cost objectives are achieved

  • Maintenance and building upkeep

  • Maintaining biosecurity and quarantine to the highest standards

  • The safe operation of farm machinery.

 

About you

Strong leadership is critical in this role. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to manage and motivate a team effectively. While experience in poultry farming would be advantageous, it is not essential; we are particularly interested in your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Be a team-orientated individual with excellent communication skills

  • A highly motivated hands-on individual

  • A high degree of mechanical aptitude

  • A sound understating of O&S practices prioritising safety.
