Culture Club – Quarter one
Amongst the hustle and bustle the start of the work year brings, it also provides a number of days’ worth celebrating and the culture club have not disappointed (if we do say so ourselves) when it comes to getting the team together in neat, enjoyable ways, thus far.
Excluding ice breaker huddle activities, the team’s spontaneous weekly coffee catch-ups and shnaackkks (of course) and indulging in a bit too much of Kat’s delicious baking, there have been a couple of standout events to fill you in on!
To start with, the iconic valentine’s day – we all know that valentines day may not be everyone’s cup of tea however as a team we thought this would be a great opportunity to just do something nice for one another at work and spread the love, plus it’s an extra excuse to eat chocolate and who are we to argue with that?
This year the Culture gals changed it up and organised for each team member to get a secret admirer note which was anonymous and selected at random. The criteria was to be as creative as you like and each team member had someone else’s name who they got to surprise.
On the day, the team absolutely pulled through and it was lovely to see the effort that was put in – the admirer notes ranged from; nice cards, poems, little gifts, arts ‘n crafts and uplifting personalised messages to each other. We had a morning tea and all opened our secret admirer notes, ultimately working out who did who’s, while enjoying some of Kat’s V-Day themed baking which without a doubt tasted as good as it looked.
Next, we had International Women’s Day (IWD)! As a team of predominantly women, IWD is a no brainer on our calendar’s – as it should be for every workplace!
The team came to work decked out in purple items (or as close to purple as they could find – not as easy to source purple clothing as you might think) however purple is significant as this symbolises justice, dignity and being loyal to the cause. In our huddle we thought it would be special to share a piece of advice that a strong women figure in our life has given us; you can check out the video below to hear everyone’s response to this.
It was neat to see the ways in which different workplaces and our clients celebrated the women in their teams as well, which is important to recognise because, as Michelle Obama has said, “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
The last (but certainly not least) event to share was the annual St Patrick’s Day! We had a bit of a fun with this one and held a ‘best dressed’ St Patrick’s Day costume competition in the office.
The competition ended up being a unanimous decision – that everyone would tie first place and just share the wee prize organised, loves a competition but also sharing is caring and it was fun to get amongst it.

We are excited what the coming months have to come in terms of our culture, and we can’t wait to see what new ideas we bring to the table this year for the team.
