About the role:
We are hiring a Financial Controller in the local Finance team of Business Unit Layers New Zealand, located in Tuakau.
The role is reporting into the Global Business controllers who form part of the wider Global Finance team including the Finance director based in the Netherlands. You will take ownership of the financial records ensuring alignment with Hendrix Genetics global standards and New Zealand reporting requirements. You will be a true business partner, supporting and challenging the business on finance topics.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring they meet Hendrix Genetics global reporting standards and timelines.
Analyse financial performance for both entities (one in the North Island and one in the South Island), providing insights and recommendations to support business objectives.
Provide financial analysis and reporting, which is:
Timely, adhering to deadlines in the finance cycle
Accurate, in line with economic reality, in accordance with New Zealand financial reporting requirements and HG accounting policies. Minimize need for accounting adjustments, optimizing the accuracy of accounting estimates
Complete, report on all information required by New Zealand financial reporting requirements and HG accounting policies
Coordinate closely with global finance teams (located in multiple countries, but majority in Europe) to ensure consistency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Support the Business Controller with budgeting and forecasting processes, working with local management and the global finance team.
Provide variance analysis and explanations for any significant deviations from budgets or forecasts, aligning with financial goals and requirements.
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and internal policies
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and work with the internal audit team to address any identified issues or recommendations.
Monitor cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs while optimising working capital
Implement and maintain strong internal controls for ISA NZ and ISA SI, ensuring compliance with financial policies and standards
Participate in regular meetings with the global finance team
Report on all information required by New Zealand financial reporting requirements and HG accounting policies
Ownership of the balance sheet
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
Support local management in financial decision-making, providing clear and relevant financial insights
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA or CA qualification preferred.
Proven experience in financial management, ideally within a multinational organisation.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems, with advanced skills in Excel.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with both local and global teams.
Familiarity with New Zealand financial regulations and reporting standards.
Flexible during month-end processes; adaptable to changing working environments.
Livestock finance experience advantageous but not essential.
