About the role:
Are you methodical and detail-oriented with Product Design and expertise in SolidWorks within the engineering / sheet metal industries. Join our team in New Plymouth, as a part of our research and development department and play a key role in bringing innovative designs to life! Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Review project timelines, prioritise tasks, and maintain SolidWorks / PDM with provider
Update drawing specifications as required with some product integration to other software applications to assist industry specifiers / retailers
Work on new product concepts, creating 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks
Liaise with our manufacturer to develop prototypes, ensuring feasibility and accuracy
Conduct tests on prototypes, analysing performance and identifying areas for improvement
Use Flow Simulation software to refine designs for efficiency, durability, and functionality
Update specifications, drawings, and reports to ensure compliance with industry standards
Prepare and coordinate product certification testing, including travel to test laboratories when required
Use your expertise in sheet metal, materials, and fabrication techniques to drive innovation
The Ideal Product Designer:
3 + years of proven experience in a similar role
Practical experience in engineering and sheet metal fabrication
A hands-on approach with the ability to assist in prototype fabrication would be an advantage
CSWA - SolidWorks Associate Certificate
CSWP/SM - SolidWorks Professional (Specialising in Sheet Metal) is advantageous
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented problem solver with a creative mindset
Familiarity with manufacturing standards and industry regulations
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
Conscientious and collaborative team player - someone we can count on!
Ability to ensure clear product specifications and documentation
Experience in evolving product concepts into testable products
Tech-savvy and open to adopting new technologies
